Evelyn Roman-Santos, a passionate advocate for special education, has dedicated her life to supporting parents and children with special needs. Her extensive experience as a mother of a child with Autism and another with ADHD/LD gives her the empathy and understanding needed to connect with families facing similar challenges. Throughout her remarkable 30-year career, she has empowered parents and children, ensuring they receive the support and services they are entitled to within the school system. As the Latino population, especially children, continues to grow in the United States, there is an increasing need for advocates who can bridge the gap between families and educational institutions. Ms. Roman-Santos has been a tireless advocate within the IEP process and has provided valuable workshops to school staff and parents, enlightening them about the diverse disabilities children face and how best to support them. She understands the specific needs and priorities of Latino families with children who have special needs and is committed to addressing these concerns effectively. As a School Social Worker and Certified Special Education Advocate, she is dedicated to facilitating a positive and cooperative relationship between parents, schools, and the broader community for the betterment of the children.

Evelyn Roman-Santos was born in Caguas, Puerto Rico. In 1977, her family settled in the United States. She married Samuel Santos 37 years ago and is a proud mother of two daughters, Lizette and Carina Santos. Her daughters received special education services, which provided Evelyn with valuable experiences as both a parent and an IEP team member. Evelyn completed a bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Illinois State University and a master’s degree from the University of Chicago.

Evelyn retired and relocated with her family in 2021. After settling in Florida, she had the opportunity to meet Pam Lindenman, known as

THE IEP ADVOCATE. Pam founded her organization over 15 years ago and is highly respected in Florida. She graciously offered to mentor her in advocating within the school systems of Florida. Pam expressed her aspiration to learn Spanish to serve the Latino community better. She was thrilled to discover that Evelyn is bilingual and has 30 years of experience working in public schools. She encouraged her to consider establishing an agency to support the Latino community. She is incredibly thankful for the guidance and support provided by Pam Lindenman.
